Highlights from the APAMA–ASLMS 2025 Summit

On April 25, 2025, the Asia-Pacific Aesthetic Medicine Association (APAMA) and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) hosted a landmark joint summit during the ASLMS Annual Conference at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. Held from 2:00 to 4:30 PM (EST) in Room 333, the session drew an enthusiastic international audience, showcasing the power of global partnerships in aesthetic and laser medicine.

The program opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Arisa Ortiz, ASLMS President and Director of Laser & Cosmetic Dermatology at UC San Diego, who emphasized the importance of bridging research and practice across continents. Adding to the significance of the event, Dr. Rox Anderson, world-renowned innovator and Director of the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, MGH, Harvard Medical School and Dr. Henry Chan, Clinical Professor, University of Hong Kong and an internationally respected figure in laser dermatology,  were in attendance. Their presence reinforced the session's role as a critical bridge between the East and West in advancing photomedicine.

Chaired by Dr. Ying Wang (Wellman Center for Photomedicine, MGH, Harvard Medical School), the summit united researchers, clinicians, and innovators from across Asia and the U.S. to exchange knowledge, explore emerging therapies, and present pioneering research. Dr. Woraphong Manuskiatt, Professor of Dermatology from Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, Dr. Chang-Cheng Chang from China Medical University, Taiwan, Dr. Xiang Wen from West China Hospital, Sichuan University, China, Dr. Yingying Huang from Boston Aesthetics, Dr. Hui Liu – Photodynamic Solution, Dr. Yongli Li and Dr. Nashwa Cheema from Wellman Center for Photomedicine, MGH, Boston gave seven original research presentations, each offering unique insight into the evolving landscape of aesthetic medicine.

The session concluded with a thoughtful Q&A discussion, enriched by the presence of esteemed figures like Dr. Rox Anderson and Dr. Henry Chan, who engaged in discussions on the future of energy-based devices, regulatory harmonization, and translational clinical models.

The spirit of the summit was clear: collaboration is no longer optional—it is essential. With the APAMA–ASLMS alliance, the global aesthetic medicine community moves one step closer to an integrated, innovative future.
